World Child Cancer
In the developed world, the chance of survival for children with cancer is now close to 80%. In the developing world, however, the picture is very different and survival rates can be as low as 10%. Yet we share the belief that improving childhood cancer survival rates in the developing world is achievable and affordable.
In early 2016, Sandoz signed a partnership agreement with World Child Cancer, a non-profit organization with programs across 13 countries. This partnership will focus initially on the Philippines and will support the development of specialist cancer treatment centers in the island region of Mindanao where 1 000 cases of childhood cancer are expected annually1.
By entering into this partnership, we are helping to build medical capacity in the region and contributing to improving childhood cancer survival rates, bringing them closer to those in the developed world.
Our help provides access to capacity building in the region, supporting the training and professional development of local healthcare professionals so that they can offer the best care and treatment possible.
Together with World Child Cancer, we are working on improving childhood cancer survival rates in the developing world.
